Descriptive Choice Blind Spots
Alongside this Field Note the register changes. This is Butterfly Effect — the secular register in the Beyond Mastery series — and we have moved past success into significance and meaning. The instrument on the cover is where my own journey started, which is why it is there.
DEMOLITION, NOT CONSTRUCTION
You lay down on the leaf and allow the work of formation to demolish certain foundational things about you. You have to demolish a great deal of what made you successful to get anywhere at this layer. What are you still carrying that got you here and cannot take you further?
Five, at the Significance Layer
The cover is the Enneagram-and-DiSC sheet: The Challenger — Humility & Excellence.
Describing Meaning — checked, not deadly. The non-dualistic stance itself: notice, don't name. I have lived in that register so long that I collide with people still holding absolutes — Rohr's first half of life. And since my own formation began exactly there, legalistic and structured and genuinely useful to me at the time, when I collide with your absolutes that is my fault. Not a red line. Certainly not a shrug.
Discovery / Defense — checked, not deadly. What's on the menu collides with people who are risk-averse, and my own lack of risk-aversion has caused real mayhem. Defence takes discipline for me. The demolition here is giving up apex-predator mode as a default and embracing both.
Hermit Crab — A SHRUG. I am gifted in it, and it is required for this kind of formation work. If I collide with you there, it is largely unavoidable.
Self-acceptance — A SHRUG. Same. Ruthless self-acceptance is what makes this kind of demolition survivable.
Losing Well — THE RED LINE. No gift in it at all. Put some dirt on it. There is no crying in baseball. I collide with people who need to take a minute and cry, no matter how much discipline I apply. It is not that I lie about losing — I say I lost, and I move on without giving it the time it deserves. I do not mourn. And here is the cost: when I collide with you over this, I steal meaning from your life.

By the end of this you will notice something I did on purpose and then had to explain. I treated the top line of the Snapshot — Describing Meaning — as a blind spot in its own right, and Butterfly Effect Snapshots are only meant to carry four. I own up to that in #28.
