Field Notes #30
If you haven't watched Field Notes #29, pause this and go back. I will not repeat what is there; this one builds on it.
WHY EVERY PAGE LOOKS THE SAME
Principle, profile, practice. You see it in every tutorial and every workbook, session after session. The cover image is the My Leadership Profile page; it's only a sample. The page is the same shape in all five programs, and that is the point of this Field Note.
Principle. The activation narrative. There are now thirty-five stories across the library, every one of them trauma-adjacent, and every one cost me something to put down in a form you can read. They are not there to entertain you, and they are not there to educate you about what a dramatic life is like. That's trauma porn: Angela's Ashes, John Wick. They are there to activate something you can locate in your own life, right now.
Profile. The Naked Now, in Father Richard Rohr's phrase: strip away the distractions, the delusions, and the distortions until what is actually there is visible. Don't think about it. Dominant hand on your chest, a breath, reach for awareness, attention, agency, or awe, whichever layer you're in. I once had a client call me a tarot-card reader. Voodoo, magic, BS. Then he did the exercise to spite it, found something that belonged to him, made me promise never to tell anyone, and destroyed all the notes.
Practice. The tension check and the pause are repetitive by design. One pathway walked a thousand times becomes a habit that costs you no energy to find; a thousand pathways walked once never will. So the pages are as close to identical as I can make them, across programs, because familiarity is the method, not economy.
Which brings me to what nobody told you. The first sessions of any program are almost all bandwidth spent learning the sequence. Until this page- the reflection, the tension check, the pause- is boring, you haven't reached the doorway of integration. The moment you most want to skip it is the moment it starts working. These Field Notes exist to get you there faster, so that self-discovery isn't the only route. I've built the rope ladders and the camps. That's what a Sherpa is for. It isn't comfortable. It is faster.

Second of five. #29 is the foundation; #31 goes into the body.
